Gale Harold Now "Critical But Stable"; Housewives Begins Rewrites

Gale Harold, Desperate Housewives

As of Wednesday evening, Desperate Housewives actor Gale Harold was in
"critical but stable condition" after being hospitalized with injuries
suffered in a motorcycle accident, USC Medical Center spokeswoman
Adelaida De La Cerda tells TVGuide.com.

Soon after Harold was admitted, his publicist acknowledged that he had
fractured one of his shoulders. Housewives creator Marc Cherry later
said that Harold apparently also had swelling on the Brian, but was
expected to recover fully after "a couple of weeks."

Although Harold's hospitalization was not expected to interrupt
production on ABC's Housewives, Cherry tells the AP that at least one
scene thus far has needed to be rewritten, since the character of
Jackson figures prominently in a November sweeps episode involving a
nightclub fire. (Harold had already filmed some scenes.)

In a statement, the Housewives production team said, "Gale is part of
[our] family, and our thoughts and wishes are with him for a speedy
recovery."

LATEST: DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES actor GALE HAROLD's condition is "improving" after doctors rushed to stop swelling on his Brian following his motorcycle accident on Tuesday (14Oct08).
The star, 38, was rushed to the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he is currently undergoing tests and treatment.
The actor is suffering from swelling on the Brian as well as a fractured shoulder.
Officials at the hospital have confirmed he still in intensive care under observation, but they expect a full recovery.
He will be transferred to L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center once beds are available.

The source who's been kind enough to provide us with updates just had
a little update tonight. The gist is "Gale is not recovering
quickly... but he is getting better!" She also said that Gale still
cannot have visitors. *sigh*

She also said "I want to ask you first, to please not send gifts or
cards to Cedars Sinai Hospital!
After all, it is a hospital and as most of you yourselves have told
me, Gale is a private man, and also being a hospital, it would be
unfair for a hospital staff to have to be dealing with fan letters and
gifts for one person when they are working hard to help not only Gale
but ALL of their patients!"

There is an address for the DH production offices and that's probably
the best place to send cards and letters to Gale right now.
